Studio News

Communication is important in any creative endeavor, whether it's visual expression or the written word. Many of my current and past customers contact me to inquire about the progress of new work and to better understand my process. I've now included this "blog" to help describe my life in the studio. I'll post on a weekly basis and welcome your feedback or comments.

With only a few days remaining to finish my latest piece, the ( self-imposed ) pressure to complete the painting is always an exciting time. Decisions are made that tend to be based on efficiency. Muscle memory dictates the way I react when working and like changing your golfswing after many years, it takes a while to make changes. At the same time I'm making the effort to...

A friend recently reviewed my new site and pointed out what appeared to him as a flaw. I had made a commitment in the introduction to post updates weekly but it had been several weeks since my last entry. Blame it on moving...for the past several weeks I have packed, discarded, scrubbed surfaces and moved loads of boxes and household treasures. It's amazing how much one accumulates, and in my case art supplies. Jars of brushes...some with little life remaining, tubes of paint squeezed thin with the remaining bits turned rock hard, and piles of books and clippings that serve...
